The digital video has been making advances and last year we saw a few 4K TV screens on the market. By the end of 2014 we now have most major TV manufacturers with a few 4K TV models. The 2014 world cup was captured digitally by SONY. The BBC in the UK transmitted 4K content to the their studios across the UK.

What is UltraHD ? 4K HD is a display which has 3840 x 2160 pixels. This is 4 times as many pixels as we had with HD (8.3 megapixels)
1080p is 1920×1080p
2,073,600 pixels.
2160p or 4K UHD is 3840×2160
8.3 megapixels in the 16:9 aspect ratio

Laptops with 4K resolution screen have started to appear on the market and hopefully the prices will start to drop down soon.

The personal computer is probably the most appropriate device to handle the burden of displaying the high definition video streams. The PC hardware can easily be changed to support these demands. High end graphics cards (GPUs) can handle the 4K videos. Windows 10 will be supporting the HEVC video codec needed to decode these streams. Youtube 4K videos can easily be displayed via a browser. Apple with the iMac retina 5K already is well equipped to fullfill the rquirement for displaying UltraHD content.
